Capturing the Lord's Beauty | Day Three

I do have to confess that I failed day two of this weeks goal. But hey it was tax day for the Gaines house! Although today made up for yesterday, because it snowed like crazy! Albuquerque is crazy, in the high 50's one day snowing the next.

I took a lot more than this but I'll just share my faves with you.

There is so much beauty to be known, and this is just the reflection of the greatest beauty of all: Christ. :)

Be Still

Today I had a wonderful, much needed, morning in the foothills with the Lord. I spent some time praying over photography and just praying for the Lord to reveal His will for it.

There is so much about running a business that scares me, and makes me feel easily overwhelmed. But I know and am praying to trust that if this is where the Lord has me, that I would trust Him to provide all that I need.

Anyway, I also decided to start daily documenting something beautiful the Lord shows me. I hope to do this for a month, but we'll see how it goes. :)

So, for now I'll leave with some photos of today.

It is truly amazing that no matter how far off we seem from God, He still has never let us go.

New Albums | 2010 Portfolio (Albuquerque Graphic Designer)

I'm SO excited the new album finally came in!

As I was doing some research with printing high-quality wedding albums I came across A LOT of typical designs. The photos were almost always amazing but the layout was BORING! And in my opinion the way to present amazing photos is with amazing design! Every single wedding album I saw had a black background, white borders around every pictures, and static design that makes you disinterested after two turns of a page.

I really do want to shower my clients with the blessings of my graphic design training to create unique albums from their sessions with me. So, decided what better way to give my clients an idea of what they could get than have a sample album.

Every year I like to create a portfolio of some of my best work from the past year. This album is my 2010 Portfolio.

I've decided to add this product to some of our wedding packages and make it an optional add on for other packages. This album is TOP NOTCH! The two albums you can purchase with this type of quality are called More the Merrier (8"x10"Album) and Dreams Come True (12"x12"Album). The albums are all custom designed just for you. These albums are leather bond mounted to thick pages making their durability and look last. Don't forget to set up a consultation with me to see this beauty in real life!

I hope you enjoy the unique but simple design and find yourself wanting one of these gems for yourself!

Abraham the Poor CD Release (Albuquerque Musician Photographer)

Monday evening Abraham the Poor (my husband's band :D) played at the Lobo Theater. ATP's new cd released Tuesday, "After the Flood, Into the Wild." You can find it on Itunes, Amazon or his Bandcamp website here (you can also listen to the album there.) I might be extremely biased, but I do believe it is an amazing album, and will just blow you out of the water...not to mention Josh's amazing voice! If you're a fan of Iron and Wine I'm sure you'll love Abraham the Poor.

Anyway! Here are some photos I took from the CD Release Show. It was a bit of a challenge shooting in SUCH low lighting, but with my equipment I have I think they came out pretty well!

We're LIVE!!!

I'm SO excited to announce that the new website is UP AND RUNNING!!! It has been a long time coming, and been a lot of work; but, I am so pleased with the results. I hope you enjoy it a lot better than my older website. It is more user friendly and well, more fun :)

I must thank my mother-in-law for her decoration skills; she was the master mind behind the cute look of the shelves. I know it wouldn't look as good as it does without her help. I also must thank my sweet husband for proof reading my text (as I'm sure you've noticed, I have the worse grammar and spelling ever haha). Also thanks to Josh and Andy for letting me play their music on the site.

I'm amazed with how much I've learned and hope to be able to better serve my customers by know more about web design...but if you need web design work done...I may send you to someone else because it probably took me longer to do this all than if I knew what I was doing in the first place haha. But, hey, I think trial and error havw proven to work well for me.

Here is the link! www.searchingforthelight.com Now go play!!!

It's been awhile...

The Holiday's are over and now its down to business. You may have wondered why I haven't posted a lot, well its because I've been cranking down on the new website! I have only a few more things left to do and am waiting on an artist about music for the site. I'm very excited about it, and amazed with how much I've learned in between it all. So that is why I've had lack of posting.

I'm excited for this new year and what it will bring for Searching for the Light. I'm praying about marketing A LOT (something I've only done little of) and hoping for great things to come. I'm beginning a new type of photography called "Beloved" which celebrates couples and their precious relationship. Keep posted to find out more on my new website! I'm hoping this year to reach new clients and people I've never meet before. Its time to break out of the bubble and begin sharing the gospel through photography to this city. I cannot wait to get started!

But for now I'll leave with some photos I've taken lately...One from my anniversary last night with my wonderful husband (1 year!!) It's been such a blessing, I cannot wait to see what God does in our lives together....ok enough mummble jumble...
